Overview

GFI LanGuard comes with a software categories feature that enables you to add and sort software according to different categories. It also supports editing software details. This article provides instructions on how to set up and edit software categories.

 

Process

Setting Up Software Categories

1. Launch GFI LanGuard.
2. Go to Configuration > Software Categories.
3. On the right panel, click the Add drop-down list and select the following options:
   • New software category
   • Add software to category
   • Import

New Software Category

Key in the name for the new software category and click OK.

Add Software to a Category

Enter the name and publisher of the new software and select the category for the new software.

Importing Software to a Category

Select the text file containing the software name and select the category you want the software to be included in.

Editing a Software Category

1. Launch GFI LanGuard.
2. Go to Configuration > Software Categories
3. On the right panel click Edit.
   
   
   
   
4. Change the necessary details and click OK to save the changes.
