Configuring Group Statistics and Accounting Exceptions in Kerio Control

Overview

Kerio Control provides detailed statistics on the user's activity, the volume of transferred data, visited websites, and web categories. This information helps you understand the browsing activities and habits of individual users (refer to Settings for Statistics, Reports, and Quota in Kerio Control for information on this topic). Kerio Control can gather and display this information as a collective Internet usage statistics for groups of users.

This article provides the steps required to configure group statistics in Kerio Control and further explains the Accounting Exceptions that can be set in the Data Gathering section of Kerio Control.

Process

Configuring Group Statistics

  1. Log in to Kerio Control's administration interface.

  2. Create the groups you want to monitor by navigating Users and Groups > Groups.

  3. Go to Accounting and Monitoring, and under the Data Gathering tab, add these groups to the Gather group statistics for these groups field, as highlighted below.

  4. In the Access to Statistics tab, add access rights for displaying data as you see fit. Refer to Setting Access Rights and Email Reports for additional information.

  5. Click Apply to save the changes.

 

Configuring Accounting Exceptions

  1. Log in to Kerio Control's administration interface.

  2. Go to Accounting and Monitoring, and in the Data Gathering tab, under Account exceptions, configure the exceptions as you see fit.

  3. Click Apply to save the changes.

 

The below table explains the different options you can configure in Kerio Control to exclude certain types of data from the gathered statistics.

Option

Description

Account traffic only in the given interval 

It defines a period for gathering statistics and quota, e.g., during working hours.

Exclude website statistics for URLs which belong to 

  • It defines a URL group, e.g., you might want to exclude your web servers from the statistics.
  • Use wildcards in URL groups items to set exceptions for particular pages, all pages on a specific server, all web servers in a domain, etc. Kerio Control applies URL exceptions only to unsecured web pages.
  • If you want to use it also to secure web pages, configure the filtering of HTTPS connections.

Exclude traffic to/from IP addresses which belong to

This option defines IP addresses of hosts that are excluded from the statistics and to which quota is not applied.

Exclude the following users from statistics

It turns off data collection for the specified users. This setting takes priority over any other quota settings in user or group preferences.
