Warning: "ICMPv6: NA: someone advertises our address on interface eth1" Shown in the Logs

Overview

During regular operations, the following warning message may appear in logs, without no apparent reason:

ICMPv6: NA: someone advertises our address fe80:0000:0000:0000:b283:dead:beef on eth1!

Root Cause

By default, IPv6 is enabled in Exinda appliances. This warning message is a kernel warning stating that there is possible a duplicate IPv6 address matching the IPv6 on interface eth1.

Resolution

Check if there is a loop in the network or disable IPv6 on the Exinda.
