Backing-up Faxes to a Folder With GFI FaxMaker

Overview

This article provides information on how to backup faxes to a folder that are received via GFI FaxMaker.

Process

The Backup2Folder method can be enabled in two ways. A shared folder must be used. Refer to How To Share a Folder for Network Use with FaxMaker to get further information.

Backup2Folder Option 1

This option would be used when faxes being received are backed up by the line they are received on. Convenient when line routing would be used.

  1. In the GFI FaxMaker configuration, select Lines/Devices > Properties.

  2. Under the General tab, select the intended line, select Properties... and then navigate to the Advanced tab.

  3. In the Advanced tab, one can specify to Backup faxes received on this line: and/or Backup faxes sent on this line.

  4. Select OK and OK again to save the configuration. A service restart will be required.

Note: A network location (in the form of a valid UNC path) can be used for Backup2Folder. Mapped drives are not usable for the UNC path. Additionally, ensure that the logon account of GFI FaxMaker services has full permissions to this UNC path.

Backup2Folder Option 2

This option would be used when different fax numbers receive faxes on the same lines, i.e., when DTMF/DID routing would be used.

  1. In the GFI FaxMaker configuration, select the Routing node and expand it.

  2. Under the Routing node, select the routing method in use and choose a route specified in the right column.

  3. Select the Properties of the route and navigate to the Backup2Folder tab for configuration.

  4. A service restart will be required to save the configuration.
