PROBLEM

After upgrading from a Dialogic® Brooktrout® TR114 DID/COMBO Fax Board to a Dialogic® Brooktrout® TR1034 DID/COMBO Fax Board, using a cable that was used with the TR114 fax board, only the Analog Loop Start ports will work, and the DID ports will not work.

SOLUTION

1. Use the cables supplied with the TR1034 board.
2. Alternatively, rewire the Telco DID jacks to reverse the polarity as shown below:

           A RJ48/45 DID plug on the TR1034 has the following pin assignment:
           Pin 3 = Tip 1
           Pin 4 = Ring 0
           Pin 5 = Tip 0
           Pin 6 = Ring 1

           A RJ48/45 DID plug on the TR114 has the following pin assignment:
           Pin 3 = Ring 1
           Pin 4 = Tip 0
           Pin 5 = Ring 0
           Pin 6 = Tip 1


CAUSE

The TR114 and TR1034 boards use different pinouts for tip and ring. Unlike regular Loop Start Analog lines, a DID line is specific about which pin on the cable is tip and which is ring.
