Overview
This article describes the process to follow to forward messages to another server if the recipient is not from your domain.
Process
- Log in to Kerio Connect Webadmin.
- Double-click on a Domain.
- Go to the Forwarding tab.
- Enable the option "If the recipient was not found in this domain, forward the message to another host."
- Enter the information requested in the Forward to: and Port: boxes.
- Set the Delivery options. Messages can be forwarded immediately, by the scheduler, or by the Extended Turn (ETRN) command. The default option is online - deliver immediately.
- (Optional) Select the "Don't forward such message (prevent loops in multiple server scenarios)" option to disable the forwarding of messages sent to domain alias addresses.
Note: To forward messages, you can also create a message filter on the server.
Confirmation and Final Considerations
- Any new messages sent to a recipient outside your domain are forwarded to the address you have specified.
- Forwarding the messages to the host is hard-coded. If there is a Delivered-To header in the email to be forwarded, it will take that into account. There is no way to customize this configuration.
- This all relates to the built-in DNS resolver that Kerio Connect features. With the built-in DNS resolver, Kerio is not able to process messages that have a malformed email address, and the behavior cannot be worked around.
- If the SMTP server requires authentication, you can configure the SMTP delivery rule.
