Overview

Upgrading to GFI MailEssentials 20.2 fails with the following error in the installation log:

System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. ---> System.DllNotFoundException: Unable to load DLL 'gficryptolib_x86.dll':

Environment

GFI MailEssentials 20.2.

Workaround

1. Open ...GFI/MailEssentialsAntispam/config.mdb with MS Access or any other application that can read and edit a .mdb file.
2. Navigate through the table proxy_settings and save both the proxy_password and proxy_username values.
3. Clean those two fields (must be blank).
4. Save the file.
5. Perform the upgrade. This time it should complete successfully.
6. Restore the values of proxy_password and proxy_username saved at step 2.
