Overview

The following error message is displayed when defining the GFI MailEssentials installation path during the installation:

One or more characters in the specified path cannot be used for the installation path of GFI MailEssentials. Please change the specified path.

• All supported environments

Root Cause

The GFI MailEssentials installation path specified does not meet the necessary requirements.

Resolution

Correct the installation path supplied during the GFI MailEssentials installation to meet the requirements specified below:

• The following reserved characters are not allowed:
  
  

  Character	Name
  <	Less than
  >	Greater than
  :	Colon
  "	Double quote
  /	Slash
  \	Backslash
  |	Vertical bar
  ?	Question mark
  *	Asterisk

• Any non-ANSI character (above the character 255). Unicode characters are not allowed.
  
  
• The installation path cannot consist of more than 260 characters.
