Moving GFI MailEssentials to a Different Hard Drive

Overview

This article provides the steps to move GFI MailEssentials to a different hard drive on the same server.

 

Note:

The steps provided here require editing the registry. Please create a backup of the registry before making any changes to it. Please refer to the steps provided by Microsoft on how this can be done.

 


Process

  1. Follow the steps in Manually Migrating GFI MailEssentials Settings to a New Server to take a backup of the installation settings.

  2. Uninstall GFI MailEssentials from Add/Remove Programs.

  3. Launch regedit (Start > Run and type regedit). 

  4. Navigate to the following locations: 

    • x64: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\GFI 
    • x86: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\GFI 
  5. Select the MEXX folder, where 'XX' is the version number (or GFI MailEssentials for GFI MailEssentials 2012). 

  6. Double-click the subkey named Path in the right-hand field. 

  7. Delete the value of this key. 

  8. Close regedit and retry the install. 

  9. Once the installation is complete, import the settings (refer to the article mentioned in Step 1).
