How can I enable or disable debug logging in GFI MailEssentials?

Answer

When debug logging is enabled GFI MailEssentials will log information on each email which can be used for troubleshooting purposes. The debug logs will be located in the <GFI\MailEssentials\debuglogs> directory. When GFI MailEssentials is working correctly, debug logging can safely be disabled.

Note that in GFI MailEssentials the debug logs will be stored in the following locations:
  • GFI\MailEssentials\DebugLogs
  • GFI\MailEssentials\ActionServices\DebugLogs
  • GFI\MailEssentials\Antispam\DebugLogs
  • GFI\MailEssentials\Attendant\DebugLogs
  • GFI\MailEssentials\Backend\DebugLogs
  • GFI\MailEssentials\EmailSecurity\DebugLogs
  • GFI\MailEssentials\WwwConf\DebugLogs
Enabling and disabling debug logging in GFI MailEssentials can be done from the Switchboard.
  1. Navigate to the GFI MailEssentials Switchboard. Start > All programs > GFI MailEssentials > Switchboard
  2. Locate the Tracing Tab
  • If you would like to disable the logs from writing, uncheck the "Tracing Enabled" check box and hit apply OR
  • If you would like to enable the logs from writing, check the "Tracing Enabled" check box and hit apply.

Note

Please note this will restart all GFI MailEssentials services.
