Overview

When trying to approve an email from Quarantine, this message appears:

Email with id xx cannot be approved since it was blocked by VSAPI

Environment

• GFI MailEssentials
• All supported environments

Root Cause

Emails blocked by Virus Scan Application Programming Interface (VSAPI) are considered of high potential risk and cannot be retrieved or approved from Quarantine.

Resolution

• These emails cannot be retrieved as they are considered of high potential risk. If the email is a false positive and contains a Macro, the option to scan for Macros must be disabled in the Scanning Engines and the email must be resent.
• Scanning Engines that support Macro Checking include BitDefender, Norman, and McAfee.
• In order to disable Macro Checking, access the engines individually, click the General tab and set Macro Checking to 'Do not check macros'.
