The Pattern Example under New Archive Store Settings is previewing a name ending in an index number

Answer

PROBLEM

When modifying the New Archive Store Settings, the pattern example preview for the next Archive Store which will be created ends in an index number:

ENVIRONMENT

  • GFI MailArchiver 2012 or later
  • All supported environments

SOLUTION

  1. Make sure that there is no other store with the exact same name
  2. If there is such an Archive Store open the summary for it and confirm that it contains 0 emails
  3. Detach the Archive Store

CAUSE

If an Archive Store with the same name already exists, GFI Archiver will add an index number to the name of a new archive store to make the name unique.

This situation can arise after upgrading from GFI MailArchiver 2011 or older to GFI MailArchiver 2012 or newer. If the archive stores in the GFI MailArchiver 2011 or older were pre-staged, never became active before upgrading to GFI MailArchiver 2013 or newer they will not be used in the new version anymore. The new version would create a new Archive Store automatically.
