The import process hangs and cannot process certain .q-files / bin-files in ..\MAIS\Pickup

Answer

PROBLEM

When re-importing items from another archive store (for example .BIX-files from a binary folder via copybix.exe or movebix.exe), the import process seems to hang and the folder ..\GFI\Archiver\MAIS\Pickup holds one or more files with the extensions [.CORRUPTED / .Q / .BIN] for a longer period of time.

The debug log BixPlugin.log lists the following:

2012-05-08,04:49:41,601,1,"#0000048C","#00000012","info   ","BixPlugin","Processing..."
2012-05-08,04:49:41,603,1,"#0000048C","#00000012","warning","BixPlugin","warning: Process() - Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

or

2013-01-21,12:02:26,665,1,"#000007D0","#00000012","error ","BixPlugin","error: Failed to process Pickup\-2144493107.bin - The CRC in GZip footer does not match the CRC calculated from the decompressed data."

ENVIRONMENT

  • GFI Archiver
  • Reimporting items from another archive store  (for example via copybix/movebix)

SOLUTION

  1. Open the folder ..\GFI\Archiver\MAIS\Pickup and make sure the file listing is sorted by name
  2. Create a subfolder named Backup
  3. Move any .CORRUPTED files into the Backup subfolder
  4. Move the topmost .Q file (and its corresponding .BIX and/or .BIN file) into the Backup subfolder
  5. Wait and observe if processing continues
  6. Repeat above steps if necessary until processing continues

The source files are corrupt.
