Is it possible to change the name of a SQL Database in GFI Archiver?

Answer

No, it is not possible to change the Microsoft SQL database name through GFI Archiver, however it is possible to change the name through Microsoft SQL and repoint GFI Archiver to the database.

It is recommended to pause archival while going through this procedure (see bottom section).
  1. Open the GFI Archiver web interface
  2. Select Configuration > Archive Stores
  3. Select the archive store you wish to edit, select Summary
  4. Note the Archive Store TypePath to binary source and Path to search index
  5. Select Cancel
  6. Select the archive store you wish to edit, select Detach
    • NOTE: Detaching an Archive Store does not delete any archived data
  7. From SQL Management Studio, rename the database
  8. From the GFI Archiver web interface, select Configuration > Archive Stores > select Attach
  9. Follow the wizard to attach the archive store

How to  pause archival via the journal mailbox
  1. Open the GFI Archiver web interface
  2. Select Configuration > Mail Servers to Archive
  3. Select journal mailbox(s), select Deactivate
  4. Wait for 5 to 10 minutes to ensure that all items within the GFI Archiver Queue are processed
    • It is recommended to check the following folders and ensure they are empty before proceeding:
      • ...\GFI\Archiver\Core\Pickup
      • ...\GFI\Archiver\Core\Queue
      • ...\GFI\Archiver\MAIS\Pickup
      • ...\GFI\Archiver\MAIS\Queue
  5. From GFI Archiver web interface, select Configuration > Archive Stores

Once the renaming is complete and the archive store has been attached again enable the journal mailbox datasources references under Mail Servers to Archive again to resume archival.
