Identifying Emails Previously Exported from Microsoft Exchange by the Import Export Tool

Overview

This article describes the identification criteria for emails previously exported from Microsoft Exchange by the Import-Export Tool.

Information

The Import Export Tool (IET) can be used to export items from either Microsoft Exchange mailboxes, public folders or PST files into GFI Archiver.

When an item is successfully exported, GFI Archiver writes the GUID 255DAA0D-B0AF-4640-AEBB-4039B07E5F3B to an unused extension attribute to the item to identify it as exported. The Import Export Tool uses only one extension attribute to flag the items as processed.

To identify whether an item has this attribute set, use the tool MFCMAPI to connect to the Microsoft Exchange mailbox or PST file and view attributes associated with a particular item. Confirm whether one of the extension attributes has the GUID 255DAA0D-B0AF-4640-AEBB-4039B07E5F3B set.

Use General Instructions on MFCMAPI to verify the extension attributes. The extension attributes checked are extensionattribute1 to extensionattribute10. Learn more about Extension Attributes and its properties.
