Central Management Server (CMS) Data Not Synchronizing

Overview

 

Sometimes, the GFI LanGuard Central Management Server (CMS) is not synchronized with the GFI LanGuard console such that the information showing in the CMS does not match the information displayed in the GFI LanGuard console.

This article describes the process of resolving the GFI LanGuard CMS data synchronization issue.

Outdated Central Management Server data is cached and needs to be purged.

Resolution

 

  1. Delete cached files on the GFI LanGuard Central Management Server:

    1. Log in to the server that hosts the GFI LanGuard Central Management Server.
    2. Ensure that the GFI LanGuard Central Management Server interface is closed.
    3. Stop all the GFI LanGuard services.
    4. Navigate to C:\ProgramData\GFI\LanGuard XX Server\Cache\DataCentralization where XX corresponds to the current GFI LanGuard version.
    5. Delete all files that are in that folder.
    6. Start all the GFI LanGuard services.
  2. Delete cached files on the GFI LanGuard Server:

    1. Log in to the server that hosts the GFI LanGuard instance.
    2. Ensure that the GFI LanGuard console is closed.
    3. Stop all the GFI LanGuard services.
    4. Navigate to C:\ProgramData\GFI\LanGuard XX\Cache\DataCentralization where XX corresponds to the current GFI LanGuard version.
    5. Delete all files that are in that folder.
    6. Start all the GFI LanGuard services.
  3. After running a scan on the GFI LanGuard Server, the sync is performed automatically. To force the sync, run a scan on the GFI LanGuard Server.

 

NOTE: In rare instances, after performing the above steps to purge the directories, it is possible to receive an error on the Synchronization Status with the Central Management Server. This is generally seen when the services are not stopped when performing the purge of the noted directories. If this happens, review the error encountered while synchronizing: Could not find a part of the path.
