Overview
GFI LanGuard reports that the license limit exceeds the number of nodes, even though this is not correct. An error 'License limit exceeded. Click here to view license details' can be seen in the Overview tab of the LanGuard console, while the numbers on the Configuration tab Licensing page show that the limit wasn't reached.
Diagnosis
Occasionally a cosmetic display error may appear in the Overview tab of the LanGuard console for some devices, incorrectly stating that the license limit exceeded. To verify whether license limit is reached:
-
Launch GFI LanGuard Console and go to the Configuration-> Licensing.
-
Check the License type and License usage.
-
Click Show details.
-
Find a target device (for which a licensing error is displayed in the Overview tab) in the List of licensed computers and see if it shows with at least one scan.
Note: License usage shows the total number of licenses used, both on computers and on mobile devices, while License type shows how many of these licenses are bonus, exclusively for mobile devices.
If the number of licenses for your computers (not counting bonus nodes) is higher than the actual usage and you located the target device, it means this is a cosmetic display error.
Note: If you are near or at the license limit you must free up licenses in order to scan more computers.
Solution
Open LanGuard Console and got to the Dashboard -> Overview tab. Select affected computer(s), for example with a CTRL-click, and Right-click on the selection and choose Scan -> Custom scan.
Run a full security scan on all the affected targets.
Testing
Once the scan finishes the error message in the Overview tab should disappear for the scanned target computer(s). If the error message DOES NOT go away please contact the support.
