Overview
Computers appear multiple times in the Network Tree and are probably binding multiple licenses. They are referred to only by an IP and do not have a hostname associated with it.
Environment
- LanGuard 2011
- All Supported Environments
Root Cause
LanGuard relies on Reverse DNS and/or NetBIOS name resolution to associate hostnames to a computer. If both name resolution technologies are not available it can cause the problem mentioned above.
Resolution
- In environments where NetBIOS is disabled, setup Reverse DNS zones, ensure that reverse name resolution (IP to hostname) is available and working.
- Remove any duplicates from the Network Tree.
