Overview

This article describes the process to follow when Wake-on-LAN (WoL) is not waking up machines.

Root Cause

After the machines are added to GFI LanGuard manually by either the Name or IP address, GFI LanGuard needs the machine’s MAC address for the Wake-on-LAN (WoL) to function.

Resolution

After adding machines to the GFI LanGuard interface, run a scan against those machines using the System Information scan profile to collect the MAC address.

Note: It is recommended to use the System Information scan as it is the fastest of all available scans.
