Overview

This article guides you on how to manually remove GFI LanGuard version 9.x through the Registry.

Process 

IMPORTANT! Run a Registry backup before performing the instructions below.

1. Click Start > Run and type regedit to access the Registry Editor.
   
   
2. Go to HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\gfi_lnss9_attservice.
   
   
3. Delete the GFI LANguard N.S.S Service.
   
   
4. Go to HKLM\Software\Classes\Installer\Products\<GUID>.
   
   
5. Delete the product name from Add/Remove Programs:
   Click each GUID and look for the one corresponding to ProductName=GFI LANguard 9.0.
   
   
6. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{<ProductGUID>}
   Delete the GFI LANguard N.S.S MSI uninstall key:
   Click each GUID and look for the one corresponding to ProductName=GFI LANguard 9.0.
   
   
7. Delete the GFI LANguard N.S.S InstallShield uninstall keys:
   • Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\InstallShield_{<ProductGUID>} and click each GUID and look for the one corresponding to ProductName=GFI LANguard 9.0.
   • Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\InstallShield Uninstall Information\{<ProductGUID>} and click each GUID and look for the one corresponding to ProductName=GFI LANguard 9.0.
     
     
8. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\GFI\LNSS9 and Delete the GFI LANguard N.S.S key.
   
   
9. Delete per-user keys: Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData
   • One or more nodes are listed with the user's SID, for example, the Administrator's would be S-1-5-18.
   • Under each user SID listed, expand it down to the Products > <GUID> > InstallProperties and look for the <GUID> that contains the DisplayName property value of GFI LANguard 9.0. Delete the <GUID> key that contains this value.
     
     
10. Reboot the server.
    
    
11. Delete the GFI LANguard N.S.S directory.
