Overview

The SMS failed with the following error when it is sent by GFI FaxMaker using the Message Media:

SendSMS - failed. [fmerc:1]

Environment

• GFI FaxMaker 2014 or later.
• Message Media Service.
  
  

Root Cause

The SendSMS HTTP request may fail either because of wrong credentials, wrong subscription package or blocking HTTP access to Message Media gateway.

Resolution

Please ensure that:

1. The user credentials specified under SMS > Properties > Enable SMS Gateway > [Username] and [Password] are valid and correct.
2. The subscription covers the Web2SMS interface of Message Media Service.
3. The URL http://soap.m4u.com.au is not blocked by a local firewall.
4. The URL https://soap.m4u.com.au is not blocked by a local firewall, especially if you use SSL inspection.

The SMS is successfully sent by the GFI FaxMaker using Message Media.
