Resolving a Cover Page Conversion Time-Out Issue

Overview

This article provides the solution when cover pages keep timing out while trying to send faxes.

Environment

  • GFI FaxMaker
  • Windows Server 2012 and newer

Root Cause

The doccvt file may not have correct entries.  In the newer operating systems (Windows Server 2012 and higher), service account limitations have been increased, and the print_html2.exe will need to be used.  Occasionally this may need to be done on Windows server 2008 R2 as well.

Resolution

  1. Stop all GFI services.
  2. Navigate to C:\Program Files\FaxMaker\doccvt.ini.
  3. Open this file, ensuring that the entries under [internal_converters] match the following:
mht=print_html2.exe
pdf=print_pdf.exe
html=print_html2.exe
htm=print_html2.exe
jpg=print_img.exe
png=print_img.exe
jpeg=print_img.exe
gif=print_img.exe
bmp=print_img.exe
  1. Add any missing entries.
  2. Navigate to C:\Program Files\FaxMaker.
  3. Right-click the fmserver.exe file, and select Run as administrator.
  4. The FaxServer service will stop while the fmserver is running as an application.
