Removing Duplicate Contacts in Public Folders

Overview

Public Folders are folders available to all users in a domain or the whole server.

You can create public folders of the following types in Kerio Connect or Microsoft Outlook:

  • Mail
  • Calendar
  • Contacts
  • Tasks
  • Notes

At times, customers might experience issues with duplicated contacts in Public Folders.

This article provides step-by-step instructions on how to remove the duplicated contacts in Public Folders.

 

Information

Preconditions

Access to Kerio Connect Webadmin and server.

 

Process

  1. Stop the Kerio Connect service.

  2. Navigate to the Kerio Store folder. Following are the default locations:

    • Windows: C:\Program Files\Kerio\MailServer\store\mail
    • Mac OS: /usr/local/kerio/mailserver/store/mail
    • Linux: /opt/kerio/mailserver/store/mail

  3. Navigate to the Public Contacts folder. Depending on the Public Folders type, it might be one of the following:

    • domain_name\#public\Contacts
    • #public\Contacts

  4. Back up index.fld, metadata.dbbmetadata.dbo and the #msgs folders.

  5. Rename index.fld to index.bad and remove the other mentioned files and folder.

  6. Navigate to the #public folder and back up the .journal.db file and remove it.

  7. Start the Kerio Connect service.

  8. Log in to Kerio Connect Webadmin and re-index Public Folders.

  9. Log in to Webmail and check the Contacts section to check the duplicate contacts.

 

Confirmation

The Contacts section will not show the duplicated contacts now indicating the steps were successful.
