How to use the Control Lists Migration tool

Answer

Gather the following three files from the previous installation or backup.
  • ..\Program Files\GFI\MailEssentials\Antispam\config.mdb
  • ..\Program Files\GFI\MailEssentials\Antispam\autowhitelist.mdb
  • ..\Program Files\GFI\MailEssentials\Antispam\Data\pwlbl.sdf

Afterwards please use the tool and steps below to import the lists.
http://cdnpatches.gfi.com/me/ME2015_ControlListsMigration.zip
Make sure to Unblock this Zip file before extracting it the same as you would for the exe.
  1. Once it has been extracted move the executable to ..\GFI\MailEssentials\Attendant\bin
  2. Run the ControlListsMigration.exe as an Administrator
  3. Choose to Import all
  4. Provide the full paths to the files that we backed up in the following format making sure they point to the actual location of the files. Below are just examples as your folder structure may be different.
  • C:\GFIBackup\config.mdb
  • C:\GFIBackup\autowhitelist.mdb
  • C:\GFIBackup\pwlbl.sdf
  1. The last file it will ask for is a new 2015 file and you will need to input the full path as well such as the following.
  • C:\Program Files\GFI\MailEssentials\Antispam\Data\controllists.sdf

This will import the Whitelist, Autowhitelist, Blacklist, and Personal Whitelist/Blocklists from your current configuration.
