Subfolders are not created

Answer

PROBLEM

Subfolders (default SPAM folder) are not created within Exchange for some or all users. There are also errors in the QAS.MTEF logs indicating that a COM object is missing:

"info ","QAS.MTEF","Creating Gfimvexch.MvExch COM object..."
"info ","QAS.MTEF","Gfimvexch COM object not found!"
"info ","QAS.MTEF","Invoking MoveToExchFolder()..."

ENVIRONMENT

  • GFI MailEssentials
  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 and 2003 server

SOLUTION

  1. Open a command prompt and navigate to ..\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\CDO\
  2. Type regsvr32 cdoex.dll
Then please do the following:
  1. Open a command prompt and navigate to ..\Program Files\exchsrvr\bin\
  2. Type regsvr32 exoledb.dll
  3. Type regsvr32 exodbprx.dll

CAUSE

Sometimes DLL's can become unregistered. When that happens with these in particular it prevents GFI MailEssentials from gaining authorization to create the subfolders.
