Scanning a Device by IP Address and Remediating the Results in GFI LanGuard

Overview

The article provides instructions to scan a device by IP Address in the GFI LanGuard Console and then Remediate the same based on the Scan results.

Environment

  • GFI LanGuard

 

Process

Configure a Manual or a Scheduled Scan in the GFI LanGuard Console
  1. Set up a Manual Scan:
    1. Open the Scan tab.
    2. Click on the ellipsis button (...) to open the Custom target properties.
    3. Click Add.
    4. Change the rule type to IP address is or the IP address range is, depending on the desired scan target.
    5. Enter the IP address or range and click OK twice.
    6. Click Scan to proceed.
  2. Set up an Auto Scan/Scheduled Scan:
    1. Open the Configuration tab.
    2. Right-click Scheduled Scans on the left side, and select New Scheduled Scan.
    3. Navigate through the wizard to create a Scheduled Scan.

Remediate the Scan Results
  1. When the scan is complete, select Remediate in the GFI LanGuard Console.
  2. Select the patches to be deployed, the desired target device(s), and click Remediate.
