Overview

Users get the following error message when opening the BrookTrout configuration:

The Boston Host service is not installed

Environment

• GFI FaxMaker
• Microsoft Server 2008 32/64 bit
• Microsoft Server 2008 R2

Root Cause

Windows User Account Control (UAC) denies interacting access with the service to the configuration.

Resolution

Run the configuration as an Administrator or disable UAC in Windows.
