Error: "An error has occurred while connecting to Active Directory" When Viewing the Licensed Users in the Configuration

The following error occurs when viewing the Licensed Users in FaxMaker Configuration:

An error has occurred while connecting to Active Directory. Please check your network connection and your Active Directory server, then try to manually connect again.

This article explains the root cause of this error and how you can resolve it.


Information

This error occurs when you are trying to query the Active Directory using .\administrator account or any other local computer account. These accounts do not have the required permissions to query Active Directory.

To resolve this issue, ensure that the GFI Faxmaker services are running using your Domain\Administrator account and not any other account.

When you use the Domain\Administrator account and access the licensed users in the Configuration, then you will not get this error.
