Overview

 

This article describes the resolution of the error, which occurs when sending a fax with an attachment through GFI FaxMaker; and the sender receives a report with the following error:

1708  - File Not Valid

Environment

 

• GFI FaxMaker
• All supported environments

Root Cause

 

This error occurs when the attachment to be converted is not a valid file for that extension and its associated application.

Resolution

 

Perform one of the following to resolve the issue:

• Install the associated application. For example, if you are printing the PDF file, install Adobe.

• Open the attachment with the associated application and save the file from this application.

  For example, a PDF file typically opens with Adobe. If Adobe is not installed, the operating system does not know what to do with the file and asks the user what to open the file with. In such cases, open the file in the application we want to use and then save it in the same format.

• You can also check the default programs to see what application is associated with the file and change the default programs if required.
