Overview

When sending a fax with an attachment through GFI FaxMaker, the sender receives a report with the following error:

1706 - There is no application associated with the extension specified

Root Cause

This error means that the print to shortcut is not found for the attached file.

Resolution

Ensure that the print to shortcut (print association) is present and selectable on the GFI FaxMaker machine. To check this:

1. Right-click the file in Microsoft Windows Explorer.
2. If the option to Print is displayed, it means the association is present.
3. Try to print the file using this option to ensure that the print association is working correctly.

 

Note: The print to shortcut is typically installed for all document and file applications.
