Check the Windows Event Logs for GFIScanS.exe crashes. You would find entries similar to; Faulting application name: gfiscans.exe, version: 16.5.2817.31, time stamp: 0x516e6969 Faulting module name: spf.dll, version: 16.5.2817.25, time stamp: 0x516e67be Exception code: 0xc000000d Fault offset: 0x00023484 Faulting process id: 0xb6c Faulting application start time: 0x01ce5d5ee0e6acca Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\GFI\MailEssentials\Antispam\gfiscans.exe Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\GFI\MailEssentials\Antispam\spf.dll Report Id: 210a040a-c952-11e2-b982-005056bc6ea1 Check if the customer entered a hostname instead of an IP address in the Perimeter SMTP Servers list.
Workaround / Fix Details
Replace the hostname with its IP address in the Perimeter SMTP Servers list: - Open the MailEssentials Configuration - Click the 'Anti-Spam' Node - Click 'Anti-Spam Settings' - Open the 'Perimeter SMTP Servers' tab - Remove all hostnames and ensure that only IP addresses are in the SMTP Server list Upgrade to latest build of GFI MailEssentials 2015 or Later
