Workaround / Fix Details

Please apply patch below: http://psg.gfi.com/ME/Patches/ME20/GFIME-2174_Fix_1.2.zip Unzip the files, right click each and select properties. Unblock the files if necessary. Please stop the Transport, then all MailEssentials services. Replace GFIScanS.exe in the GFI\MailEssentials\AntiSpam directory with this downloaded one (making a backup of the current files). Start the services back up and monitor.

Required Actions

If issue persists after applying patch, next step would be to setup Crash Dumps, this way we can find out what other process is causing the service to crash: http://www.gfi.com/support/products/How-to-collect-user-mode-crash-dumps-with-Windows-Error-Reporting The executable we need the dump for is the GFIScanS.exe I'll also need the troubleshooter gathered after the crash: http://www.gfi.com/support/products/gfi-mailessentials/How-to-create-and-submit-troubleshooting-logs-for-GFI-MailEssentials -- Escalate with crash dumps and full logs.
