Configuring Rule in Office 365 Mailbox to Remove Read Receipts Header in Notifications for External Senders

Overview

When a sender from outside your organization sends an email with a read receipt request, an auto response is sent out from the server as soon as GFI Archiver collects the email from the journal mailbox for archiving purposes.

Since the response informs the sender that the message was deleted before it was read, it is needed to remove headers in these response emails.

Please note that this transport rule works only for external senders.

Process

Follow these steps to create the rule:

  1. Log in to Microsoft Office 365 using the administrator account.
  2. Go to Admin > Exchange.
  3. Open Exchange Admin Center.
  4. Select mail flow.
