Overview

When importing emails from a PST larger than 20 Gb using the 'Import from .pst files' utility, the emails get imported and failed at the same time.

Environment

• Microsoft Office 2003
• Microsoft Office 2007

Root Cause

Outlook 2003 and 2007 have a pst file limit of 20 Gb as indicated by Microsoft Support.

Resolution

Resolve this issue by doing either of the following:

• Break the .pst files into smaller files,
  
  or
  
  
• import the .pst file from a machine where Outlook 2010 is installed, as it does not have the same restriction.
