GFI Archiver can work with Microsoft Exchange on-premise as well as with a hosted Microsoft Exchange solution. The list below outlines requirements which will allow basic functionality with archival via a journal-like mailbox:

• Directory data must be present (please see this article for details on Important Directory Service Settings)
• User objects must exist in the directory service.
• The mail server must support a journaling-like feature (a specific mailbox receives a copy of every e-mail sent or received by the mail server).
• The journaling mailbox must be accessible via the IMAP4 protocol.

• Certain features might not be available (e.g., the Folder Structure Retrieval Feature or importing emails via the Import Export Tool).
