Overview

This article provides a brief overview of how GFI Archiver works.

Information

GFI Archiver is a powerful yet easy-to-use email archiving solution. Its core operation of archiving emails via a journal mailbox can be divided into 3 logical stages:

1. Retrieve Emails

   GFI Archiver connects to the configured mail servers, for example, a journaling mailbox on the Microsoft Exchange Server, and collects the emails stored in the journaling mailbox.
   
   
   

2. Archive Emails

   GFI Archiver archives the emails to a database (Microsoft SQL Server).
   
   
   

3. Browse Archived Emails

   Users can browse and search for specific archived emails via the GFI Archiver web interface, using Microsoft Internet Explorer.
