Overview

This article provides the steps to fix an error that you may encounter when messages are not being archived.

Information

Messages are not being archived, and the following error is found in the event logs: 

Event ID 6310
Plugin LogScheduler reports exception:
Logging: Submit Failed
Additional info: The Transaction has Aborted.

This issue occurs when the Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MSDTC) service is either not started or was once associated with a cluster that no longer exists.

Process

1. Make sure the Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MSDTC) service is started.
2. Navigate to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Component Services > Computers > My Computer > Properties > MSDTC.
3. Verify that the "Use local coordinator" option is checked.

Confirmation

The message archiving process goes as expected without any errors.
