Compacting and Repairing the Access Database Backend

Overview

GFI LanGuard enables you to repair and compact the Access Database backend automatically to improve performance.

During compaction, the database files are reorganized and records that have been marked for deletion are removed. In this way, you can regain used storage space. During this process, GFI LanGuard also repairs corrupted database backend files. Corruption may occur for various reasons. In most cases, an Access database is corrupted when the database is unexpectedly closed before records are saved, e.g., due to a power failure, unresponsive operations forced reboots, etc.

Process

  1. Launch GFI LanGuard.
  2. Go to Configuration > Database Maintenance Options > Database Maintenance Plan.
