GFI LanGuard Agent Scan Failed Error: 'The scan does not contain any results...'

Overview

Scan results of the agents under the Scanner shows the following message:

The scan does not contain any results. Possible reasons: no computer found alive or scan operation was stopped before retrieving any information.

Replication Steps
  1. Perform a Refresh and Scan now on an agent and monitor either of the two directories below:
\\TargetComputer\C$\ProgramData\GFI\LanGuard
  11\Servers\\ directory

For Microsoft Windows 2003 class computer:

 \\TargetComputer\C$\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
  Data\GFI\LanGuard 11\\ directory
  1. Once you find the scan result file yyyymmddhhmmss.xml move it to another folder and open it with Internet Explorer to see if it contains the results.
  2. Import the XML file to the LanGuard Scanner:
File > Load scan results from XML and check if you get the same error mentioned above.

Environment

LanGuard 2014 and 2015

Resolution

A fix for this issue has been incorporated into LanGuard 2015 (version 11.4 - build 20150130).
NOTE: Upgrade to the latest LanGuard version when necessary.

  1. Edit the toolcfg_agentmanagersettings.xml with NotePad.
  2. Find the following section/setting:
Change the [CDATA[1]] value to [CDATA[0]].
