Overview

LanGuard is not capable of installing Chrome patches in any Windows operating system when Chrome is installed in user-level mode.

Replication of the Issue

1. Chrome is installed in user-level mode.
   Example: The Chrome executable file chrome.exe is not located in the Program Files or Program Files (x86) path. Instead, it is installed in the C:\Users\\ or C:\Documents and Settings\ path.
2. When deploying any patch of Google Chrome in system-level mode, notice that the remediation job finished with the following error:
   Google Chrome 26.x.x.x - Stable channel - System level install: State: failed (Unknown error: 35)

Resolution

Uninstall Google Chrome and re-install it in system-level mode.
Example: Under the Program Files or Program Files (x86) path.

NOTE: System-level mode is now the default for the Google Chrome installer. This makes it available to all users on the system.
