Overview

The following error occurs when installing the GFI LanGuard:

Error 2203. An internal error occurred.

Root Cause

This error code in the installer log file indicates that the incorrect permissions are set for the folder that contains the installation file.

Resolution

Grant the SYSTEM account Full Control permissions to the folder from where you are running the installation. To set permissions for the folder, follow these steps:

1. In Windows Explorer, right-click the folder where the installation file is located.
2. From the pop-up menu, select Properties, and then in the Properties dialog box click the Security tab.
3. Add the user account SYSTEM. 
4. In the Permissions list, grant Full Control permissions to this account.
5. Click on OK.
