PROBLEM

When sending a email fax request to GFI FaxMaker, the transmission report returned by GFI FAXmaker contains the following error:

TNEF to MIME conversion is failing on the FAXmaker Fax Server machine. Make sure that MAPI is installed by installing Outlook.
P.S. Do not install Outlook on same machine where Exchange is installed

SOLUTION

Download the Microsoft Exchange Server MAPI Client and Collaboration Data Objects 1.2.1 from the following link. Alternatively, you can also install Microsoft Outlook ( if Microsoft Exchange server is not present on the GFI FaxMaker server) and configure an Microsoft Outlook profile on the GFI FAXmaker server. Ensure that Microsoft Outlook run at least once to create the profile.

CAUSE

GFI FaxMaker Message Transfer agent may fail to execute the TNEF to MIME conversion because of an invalid or missing component of MAPI / CDO.
