Firmware image downloaded as a .zip file

Overview

When downloaded a firmware image, it should be a .img file. However, sometimes it may be downloaded as a .zip file.

Cause

This generally happens when the file is downloaded using Internet Explorer.

Workaround

The extension of the file can be changed from .zip to .img and it should function normally.

Resolution

Download the file using a browser other than Internet Explorer.

Internal Notes

This is related to server side settings. Our web server does not provide the correct mimetype for the document, which internet explorer uses.
