Overview

While using Kerio Outlook Connector Offline, the Outlook is unable to start with 0x80070057 Mapi_E_Invalid_parameter error. The Outlook profile was already deleted from PC, but the problem still persists. As a result, the user cannot use his/her Outlook.

The full error message is Microsoft Outlook cannot start. The Outlook window cannot be opened. This folder group cannot be opened.

Prerequisites

Administrator (root) access to the Kerio Connect server

Diagnosis

The error occurs in the standard Exchange 2010 environment, which is used by Kerio Connect. The notifications are sent incorrectly to the MAPI application when internal store objects are created on the server. The MAPI application tries to retrieve more information about internal objects. One or more of the parameters passed into the method or functions were not valid.

It might have occurred when the groups are being created directly in the Outlook, but not in the Webmail.

Solution

1. Navigate to the Kerio Store folder.
2. In the user folders (e.g., INBOX, Contacts, etc.), check if the status.fld file exists.
   
3. For the user folders that do not contain this file:
   1. Stop Kerio Connect.
   2. Create an empty status.fld file.
   3. Start Kerio Connect.

Testing

Reboot PC and reconfigure the Outlook profile manually.
