Mac Scanning Error: Missing Patches Scan Mac OS X Tool 'Softwareupdate' Failed: 'the Request Timed Out. (0)

Overview

When trying to scan a Mac OS based machine for missing patches, the following error message is displayed:
 
Missing patches scan; Mac OS X tool 'softwareupdate' failed: 'The request timed out. (0)

Root Cause

This error happens when the client machine fails to resolve the GFI LanGuard hostname.

Resolution

  1. Open the GFI LanGuard console.
  2. Go to Configuration and right click on Agent Management.
  3. Click on Agent Settings and under Communications choose the IP address of the GFI LanGuard server.
